Building Code & Permits
1) Our building code is for those that reside inside the one square mile of Calhan (town limits only). Anything outside the town limits falls under Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (719-327-2880), please call them if you are outside the town limits. If you are unsure if your address is inside the town limits you may contact the office for more information.
2) We follow the International Building Code 2018. We have hard copies at the office for your reference and use.
3) All electrical permits must be acquired through the State of Colorado, State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
4) We do not have zoning inside our town limits.
5) You can also find our specific building codes in our ordinances Chapter 6, Building Code
*Additional information can be found in Chapters 11, 14, & 15.
6) Below is an online application form for permits or a printable document that can be filled out and emailed. You must make payment and receive approval before building.
7) You can also find some quick printable guides for routine projects below.

*NOTE: ELECTRICAL PERMITS ARE ISSUED THROUGH THE STATE OF COLORADO. FOR ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING ELECTRICAL WORK VISIT THEIR WEBSITE: STATE OF COLORADO PERMITS
*If a re-inspection is required, an additional $55 per inspection will be charged.
*If your permit expires before inspection, you will need to pay a fee of $100 for a 6 month extension.
*Inspector may need to do inspections throughout project. When project is finished, contact Town of Calhan, for final inspection.
