Town of Calhan Municipal Court
We hold court every other month for minor traffic violations and summons issued in the town limits of Calhan. See our calendar for court dates. If you are appearing in court you should arrive at 1:00 PM to meet with the Town prosecutor. Court begins at 1:30 PM.
If you pay a traffic summons in 20 days of issuance this is considered a timely payment and may reduce your point violation. Paying your fine enters a plea of guilty; therefore, you do not have to appear in court and paperwork is sent to the DMV to show you were compliant with your summons and fines. If you wish to enter a plea of not guilty you will need to appear in court on the date noted on your summons. If you fail to pay your fines and appear in court, you will be considered in default of your violation and paperwork will be sent to the DMV showing default status.

Our court room is a no cell phone zone. You must turn off all electronics when court is in session.

Calhan Municipal Court is adhering to HB 23-1182.
23-1182 Section 2 13-1-132 : Use of interactive audiovisual devices and communication technology in court proceedings. (3.5) (a) All Colorado Courts, including municipal courts, shall make any criminal proceedings conducted in open court available for remote public viewing and listening in real time, at no cost to the public, through an online platform, which may include a participatory web conference platform, and post prominently on the court's website the links for remote observation.
23-1182 Section 2 13-1-132 (IV) (B) (c) Any recording of the proceeding without a court order, including any screen capture, photograph, or audiovisual recording, is prohibited.
