Lions Club Calhan
Lions Club International
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. Our mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness – it’s part of our history as well as our work today. But we also perform volunteer work for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
About Calhan Lions Club
We were formed on September 27, 1939, just 22 years after after the founding of the International Association of Lions Clubs. We have continuously served the needs of Colorado’s Eastern Plains communities for almost 75 years.
Over the decades, we have helped support many programs, including:
- College Scholarship Program
- LCI Disaster Relief Foundation
- Leader Dogs for the Blind
- International Hearing Dogs
- Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank
- Colorado Lions KidSight Program
- Colorado Lions Camp
- and many others!
- Fun Run in the Sun
- Senior Pie Day
