Rock Island Regional Trail

rockislandtrailHiking Trail

About the Trail
The Rock Island Regional Trail follows the now-defunct Rock Island Railroad line. The complete trail is one of the longest in the U.S., starting on the east coast and ending on the west coast, and is divided into a series of disconnected regional trails.

The 23-mile Rock Island Regional Trail runs parallel to Highway 24 between Falcon and Ramah and is part of the America the Beautiful Trail. Excellent views of several landmarks are visible from the trail including Pikes Peak, Rampart Range, Rattlesnake Buttes at Homestead Ranch Regional Park, Spanish Peaks, West Mountains, and the Sange de Cristo mountain range. Picnic tables are located at the Falcon Trailhead, and benches are placed at regular intervals along the trail.
