About Us

The Eastern Plains Community Pantry encourages, supports, and enhances the quality of life of community members by assisting with food distribution, life necessities and other resources for everyone with respect and dignity and without judgement.

In June of 2012 the town of Calhan was informed that it was too expensive to continue to serve our neighbors with food and clothing support. An alliance formed among local clergy, the town government, businesses, civic organizations and concerned citizens. The group came together, formed a committee, adopted by-laws, elected a Board of Directors, incorporated, filed for 501(c)3 status and began fund-raising.

The official ribbon-cutting was on March 16, 2013, and with that we were off and running. In addition to commodities distributions and senior food boxes, we provide emergency food, clothing, small household appliances and social service support to address any other needs a family or an individual may have.

Funding

The pantry is supported strictly through donations and grants from within the Pikes Peak Region. The majority of our donations are small and come from our local community. All of our staff and Board of Directors are volunteers.
